Students will learn to differentiate among bulbs, corms, tubers, tuberous roots, and rhizomes; propagation techniques for each; and the most effective practices for their care.
Students will discuss the composition of their home soils related to the soil triage and apply this knowledge to creating a sample raised bed.
Homework assignment to be read/viewed before coming to Practicum:
Watch the video below titled, “Understanding Soil Types…” and follow the video instructions on sampling your soil, marking your jar, but leave the soil inside jar. Do the soil texture calculations as instructed in the video and bring to your practicum session to discuss. Watch the soil triangle demonstration, we will do this together using your calculations during your session. – you will need at least 24 hours to complete this homework assignment.
